It is over 100 years since the French archaeological mission started work at Deir el-Medina and, contrary to general belief, the ongoing exploration of the Village shows that many of its secrets still wait to be unveiled. This site is important to our knowledge of ancient Egyptian daily life and in this study day Dr C\u00e9dric Gobeil will assess the history of past excavations and review the activities that have taken place since 2011, with a focus on the work of the current season.<\/p>\n
Dr C\u00e9dric Gobeil received his PhD in Egyptology at the University of Paris-Sorbonne in 2008 and has been the Director of the French archaeological mission at Deir el-Medina since 2011. In 2016 he was appointed as the Director of the Egypt Exploration Society in London.<\/p>\n
