Event Information
For our last talk of the year, we are joined online by Dr Francisco Martin-Valentin, Director of the Spanish team working on the Assasif, west bank Luxor.
The long coregency between Amen-Hotep III and his successor, Amen-Hotep IV, has been a subject of debate in Egyptology since the late 19th century.
The discoveries made in AT-28 of the Vizier Amen-Hotep Huy at Asasif (western Luxor) are decisive in proposing a new, corrected chronology for the 18th Dynasty.

Dr Francisco José Martín-Valentín, was professor of Egyptology in the Master’s in History and Ancient Literature at the University of Malaga. He is the Director of the Spanish team working on the Assasif at the West Bank of Luxor. In particular, he has directed the work to preserve the tomb of Amen-Hotep Huy, Vizier of South Amen-Hotep III (AT no. -28-. Catalogue of Frederika Kampp). In the Chapel of this Tomb there are inscriptions that demonstrate the long co-regency of Amen-Hotep III with his son Amen-Hotep IV (Akhenaten).
