Talk information

Vibrant painted scenes on the walls of tombs of nobles at Beni Hasan provide a window into the daily lives of the ancient Egyptians c2000 BC. This lecture will explore some of the more intriguing of the manifold scenes on the walls of the tombs of the provincial governors Khety, Baqet, and Amenemhat, and of the mayor Khnumhotep. These monuments date to a less well-known period of Egyptian history and are located in a rarely visited part of Egypt but are of artistic and historical importance.
