Dr Robert Loynes

Dr Robert Loynes is a retired Orthopaedic Surgeon who obtained a PhD in Egyptology from the University of Manchester in 2014 with a thesis on the use of CT scans to investigate mummification techniques of ancient Egyptian mummies. Subsequently, he has continued to research on the same subject and read papers at the 8th World Congress on Mummy Studies 2013; the International Conference of Egyptologists in Florence in 2015; the International Conference on Comparative Mummy Studies in Hildesheim 2016 and the 9th World Congress on Mummy Studies in Lima August 2016. He currently has several research projects ongoing including one into a pair of Bog Mummies from Holland (currently on show in an exhibition in Basel).
